µ

Mu (µ) is the 12th letter of the Greek alphabet. Derived from the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph for water, Mu is currently used in measurments to represent the prefix of micro, or one millionth of a unit (10-6). I.e., a microgram is one millionth of a gram (0.000001g).

Mµ-Pay is a cryptocurrency based on the Stellar Network, using the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP). Mu-Pay aims to serve content creators by allowing micro payments with settlements in under five seconds (5s) and transaction fees of a fraction of a cent. With Mµ-Pay, online content creators can sell their products and recieve the full price amount without losing a percentage to middle-man fees. (Paypal takes over 5%, unacceptable!). The Stellar Network allows can handle ~ 600,000 transactions to occur while producing a total fee sum of less than $0.01. These factors allow for efficient micro payments and for microcommerce to thrive.

In 2018, ~ $2.8 million in global digital transactions are forcasted to occur, with that amount projected to reach over $3.5 billion in transaction volume by the year 2020.

Mµ-Pay believes in an open, free and distributed Web. Without such freedom, it is possible for governments and corporations to limit and even eliminate the rights of citizens who depend on the internet for knowledge, e-commerce, and social liberty. The Great Firewall of China is one such example. The most populous country on earth with some of the most restrictive internet policies.

China alone is forcasted to exceed $840 million of digital transaction volume in 2018 out a total transaction value of ~ $1 billion.

Thats ~ 84% of total transaction volume in China, that's expected to happen electronically!
